Where can you see clouded leopards leap 15 feet from tree to tree, arctic foxes with “built-in sunglasses”, and 150 pound komodo dragons that can reach speeds of up to 11 miles per hour? At the Denver Zoo! A special zoo day for international students and their families was enjoyed by more than 70 international students who are enrolled in a degree program at the University of Colorado Denver or at the CU Denver ESL Academy.
Hosted by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) , the event took place on a sunny October day and was attended by students from countries throughout the world, including India, China, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

A diverse group of international students from countries around the world – China, Nepal, Turkey, Thailand, Ukraine, France, Burundi, and Vietnam – joined faculty and American friends to celebrate a traditional American holiday feast at this year’s International Student Thanksgiving Lunch, hosted by the Office of International Affairs, University of Colorado Denver. The event, organized by Aditi Nigudkar, a graduate student at CU Denver’s Business School and student assistant in International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), gave students a chance to learn more about the history of the national holiday, socialize, and celebrate the season.

Breaking out of what is often referred to as the “U.S. cultural cocoon”, Suzanne Lewis, who is studying for her master’s degree in public health at the Colorado School of Public Health, entered completely new realities of lifestyle and healthcare structures during her studies in Nepal. Lewis was able to participate in a faculty-led Global Health Practicum in the Nepal Winterim Program after receiving the Global Studies Scholarship, which is offered through the Office of Global Education, Office of International Affairs.
“I am working towards completing my Global Health certificate, so it was really important and valuable to have a global health experience that takes me outside of the classroom and into a real international setting,” explained Lewis. Read More

For International College Beijing (ICB) students on the Denver campus, Spring Break is the perfect time for outdoor adventures in the beautiful American West. Colorado and the nearby states of Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, and New Mexico offer a variety of scenic landscapes with soaring sandstone arches, lush pine forests, 14,000 foot mountain peaks, and colorful sunsets of orange and gold. This year, students enjoyed an exhilarating canyoneering adventure at Arches National Park, near Moab, Utah. Read More

On August 23rd, the ICB Club cooperated with International Students Inc. (ISI) in holding the “2013 Welcome Party for ICB Students” in Tivoli Turnhalle. This activity happens at the beginning of each new academic year. The ISI prepared Chinese traditional food for the ICB students and fun games to break the ice. The president of the ICB Club introduced the ISI leadership members and the calendar of events of this semester to the students.
