On August 12, an agreement between the University of Colorado Denver and the Ecologic Institute of Berlin formalized the start of a new semester-long program of applied research: Sustainability in Berlin. University of Colorado Denver Hosts China Delegation

The University of Colorado Denver was one of three American institutions visited by a seventeen member educational delegation sponsored by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), China’s professional association focused on the internationalization of Chinese higher education that conducts international educational exchanges and cooperation. The delegation, comprised of high-ranking officials and faculty members from eleven different Chinese institutions, arrived on the CU Denver and Anschutz Medical Campus on May 31 with the goal of exploring a variety of educational partnership options. How did you originally hear about the Semester in Beijing Program, and what made you pursue this study abroad program?

I had wanted to study abroad in China for a very long time, and when I saw the University of Colorado Denver Semester in Beijing program, I took a leap.  The scholarship opportunities offered in the program were another major reason why I chose it. I had looked into other programs, but the cost of this one compared to the others was significantly more economic for me.  This program had the combination of what I had already wanted to do and the opportunity to do it—that’s why I am in Beijing right now.   Read More

Growing up in Colorado, Stella Yuan experienced not only American culture, but also the cultural influences of her family’s Japanese heritage. Speaking Japanese with her family members was an everyday conversational practice; but she still wished to learn even more about the country, the people, and the complex written system of the language.  To accomplish this, Yuan decided to break free from her comfort zone in Denver, and pursue Japanese linguistic studies in the busy capital city of Tokyo, Japan. Engineering Senior Design Team wins First Place at Shell Eco-Marathon

HOUSTON – Determined to be the first team from the University of Colorado Denver to participate in and win the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas competition – which encourages students to design the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the world – nine members of the university’s Mechanical Engineering Senior Design class achieved their goal on April 7. The team won first place in their category for a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle they designed and built that achieved a maximum of 205 miles per gallon.  (Last year’s winner in the same category achieved 169 miles per gallon.) CU Denver ESL Academy Students Further Education at Denver Art Museum

 

The bold modern design of the Denver Art Museum’s (DAM) Hamilton Building, which includes innovative features such as 9,000 titanium panels to reflect Colorado’s 300 days of sunshine, provides a perfect example of contemporary architecture. It also provided an ideal setting for 25 international students from the University of Colorado Denver’s ESL Academy to refine their English language and listening skills and to deepen their understanding about the field of architecture.
