    From a young age, Yan (Brandon) Zhou showed an interest in engineering, peppering his father, a civil engineer, with questions about the equipment that he brought home from work every day. Also dubbed “The Four-Minute Miracle”, the system incorporates high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts within short bursts of time to create maximum aerobic and anaerobic benefits. VO2 max, which is the measurement of the maximum amount of oxygen that an individual can utilize during intense exercise, increases; resting metabolic rate after the exercise and glucose metabolism are also improved.

Lulu Alsalem, who graduated in 2016 from the ESL Academy, University of Colorado Denver, was pleased to discover how well the Academy had prepared her for university when she entered classes at CU Denver’s College of Engineering and Applied Science in Fall 2016. Naturally, she shared the good news with her younger brother, Doaij, who was living in Kuwait and interested in earning a dentistry degree in the United States. In May 2017, the siblings celebrated together, along with dozens of CU Denver friends, faculty, and staff, as Doaij and his Level 5 classmates graduated from the ESL Academy.

    Traditional Paper Book Reading Must Never Die

    When Andy Warhol said, “I never read. I just look at pictures,” perhaps he foresaw the information age’s inevitable impacts on people’s traditional reading style. According to the China National Reading Survey from 1999 to 2011, the average number of paper books Chinese adults read per year in 2011 was only 4.35 compared to 6.64 in 1999. However, the national multimedia reading has increased dramatically from 3.70% to 77.60% during the past twelve years. With the developments of new media in the information age, it is time for people to reposition the value of traditional reading.

    As the moon rose over the Tivoli on the fifteen day of the first lunar month, the Turnalle came alive with celebration. It was time for the annual Lantern Festival, which marks the end of New Year celebrations and the first full moon of the year, according to the Lunar Calendar. In China, when this full moon climbs high in the sky, people go outdoors to observe and celebrate with family members. Under the silvery moonlight, they make wishes and pray that the bright moon will bring them peace, happiness and health.
