May 22, 2017What’s the first thing you do when you learn something new? Share it with a friend or family member. Lulu Alsalem, who graduated in 2016 from the ESL Academy, University of Colorado Denver, was pleased to discover how well the Academy had prepared her for university when she entered classes at CU Denver’s College of Engineering and Applied Science in Fall 2016. Naturally, she shared the good news with her younger brother, Doaij, who was living in Kuwait and interested in earning a dentistry degree in the United States. Although different languages may share similar words or derivatives, learning another language can still be challenging; Arabic, for example, takes an average of at least 88 weeks of classroom study for a native English speaker to acquire proficiency. According to the China National Reading Survey from 1999 to 2011, the average number of paper books Chinese adults read per year in 2011 was only 4.35 compared to 6.64 in 1999. Jan 29, 2014The Presidential Scholar Award was developed by former University of Colorado Denver President Hank Brown to identify and recognize outstanding students in the freshman class. IEEE Life Member Graduate Study Fellowship
Dec 6, 2013University of Colorado Denver PhD student, Ashanthi Maxworth, student has been awarded the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) Life Member Graduate Study Fellowship in Electrical Engineering, which carries a $10,000 per year stipend paid. Oct 27, 2013Forty-two students, including two PALs (Peer Advocate Leaders), and four staff hopped on board the motor coach bright and early the morning of Friday, October 25th, to begin an all-day adventure to Colorado Springs. Immersion in English and Architecture
May 17, 2013The bold modern design of the Denver Art Museum’s (DAM) Hamilton Building, which includes innovative features such as 9,000 titanium panels to reflect Colorado’s 300 days of sunshine, provides a perfect example of contemporary architecture. Kelsey Evans – The Journal of an American Student in Beijing
