Immersion in a quality English language program and immersion in a top-ranked business school and thriving business community formed the perfect combination for Brazilian student Gabrielle Mattioda. Mattioda, one of the first students in class on the opening day of the University of Colorado Denver ESL Academy, is pursuing her MBA in the university’s Business School and enjoying life in Colorado.
Boston and Washington, D.C.
By Joanne Wambeke
While attending a conference in Boston this July, Joanne Wambeke of International Colleges and Partnerships was overjoyed to reunite with three ICB alumni in the Boston area: Yueran Wei, Xin Wang, and Jinghang Jia. The group gathered in Boston’s China Town for an authentic Chinese meal (complete with chicken feet). During her October vacation to the Washington, D.C. area, Joanne also reconnected with ICB alumna Fan Zhang.
Lingguang, an ICB alumna from the class of fall 2012, works as an intern for a Chinese investment company in Chengdu, Sichuan. In contrast with most Chinese students who plan their academic and career goals way into the future, Lingguang seeks out engaging experiences today that will benefit her personally and/or professionally tomorrow. And, since life is short, believes that students should avoid doing something that’s not of much interest to them. She hopes to gain more career knowledge and enjoy travel with friends during this, her Chinese Zodiac year.
